Protests by MVA Allies Escalate Over Amit Shah's Remarks on Ambedkar; BJYM Leaders Face Charges for Vandalism

Nagpur/Mumbai, Dec 20 (NationPress) The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition partners persist in their demonstrations against Union Home Minister Amit Shah due to his comments regarding B. R. Ambedkar. Concurrently, the Mumbai Police have filed charges against multiple leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) for their acts of vandalism at the Congress party's office in Mumbai on Friday.

Leaders and legislators from the MVA, which includes Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Shiv Sena (UBT), organized loud protests outside the Maharashtra Legislature in Nagpur. They held pictures of Dr. Ambedkar while chanting slogans denouncing Shah and demanding an apology.

Protesters displayed placards with messages such as 'Then We Fought the White Rulers, Now We Fight the BJP Goons', 'Bhakt Goonda Party', and 'First They Broke Parties, Now They Destroy Party Offices'.

Among those participating in the protests were Ambadas Danve, the Leader of Opposition from SS (UBT), Aditya Thackeray, Congress leaders Nana Patole, Vijay Wadettiwar, Dr. Nitin Raut, Jyoti E. Gaikwad, alongside NCP (SP) members and other legislators.

Patole also criticized the BJP for fabricating a narrative accusing Congress' Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of pushing BJP MPs outside the Parliament on Thursday.

“They claimed to possess evidence of this, yet no such video has surfaced. Shah has gravely insulted Dr. Ambedkar and the Constitution, provoking widespread outrage across the nation. The BJP is attempting to distract from the real issues by attacking Rahul Gandhi,” Patole stated.

Dr. Jitendra Awhad from NCP (SP) and Aditya Thackeray from SS (UBT) condemned the central government for filing FIRs against Rahul Gandhi, accusing the BJP of diversionary tactics while reiterating the MVA's demand for Shah's resignation or removal from the Cabinet.

Wadettiwar asserted that the BJP has “revealed their true sentiments” and their profound disdain for Dr. Ambedkar is apparent from Shah’s statements.

Patole mentioned that the BJP seeks to avoid discussions on these matters in Parliament but targets two former Prime Ministers (Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi), who dedicated themselves to the country’s unity and integrity.

In response to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ comments linking Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra to Maoist groups, Patole countered that if this were true, “why did he not take action” when the two marches passed through Maharashtra?

“If Fadnavis truly had such information, he should have acted if he were an effective Home Minister… The reality is that he and the BJP cannot stand the immense popularity of Rahul Gandhi and the monumental BJY-BJNY, leading them to engage in such false propaganda,” an upset Patole remarked.

They also condemned the 'hooliganism' displayed by BJYM activists who engaged in vandalism at the Congress headquarters in Mumbai's Azad Maidan.

The Congress Mumbai chapter held a separate protest on Friday to denounce the BJYM's actions from December 19, resulting in the detention of numerous individuals who were taken away in police vehicles.

In the meantime, following a complaint from Congress city working president Mandar Pawar, the Azad Maidan Police Station has registered cases against BJYM city chief Tejindar Tiwana and around three dozen activists for the disruptions caused on Thursday.
