Trinamool Congress Conducts Statewide Protests in West Bengal Against Amit Shah's Remarks on Ambedkar

Kolkata, Dec 23 (NationPress) As per the directive of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee last week, the Trinamool Congress held protest rallies across the state at various block and ward levels, expressing their disapproval of the recent remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah concerning B.R. Ambedkar.
The demonstrations took place on Monday and saw significant participation from party activists.
The primary protest was centered in Kolkata, led by the party's state president in West Bengal, Subrata Bakshi.
He initiated a procession to Esplanade in Kolkata, where he honored the statue of Ambedkar prior to commencing the protest rally.
Bakshi stated that the protests were organized throughout the state following the guidance of party leader Mamata Banerjee.
"We strongly condemn the comments made by the Union Home Minister regarding the father of the Indian Constitution. We denounce the BJP," he declared.
Trinamool Congress's state vice-president Jayprakash Majumdar emphasized that Ambedkar originated from a marginalized community and was instrumental in drafting the Indian Constitution.
"Thanks to him, the Indian Constitution promotes inclusivity. During his time, Hindu fundamentalist groups also opposed him. This animosity was evident in the recent statements made by the Union Home Minister," Majumdar remarked.
Since the emergence of the Union Home Minister's comments, Mamata Banerjee has repeatedly criticized the BJP.
Initially, the West Bengal CM issued a statement last week asserting that the remarks regarding Ambedkar are indicative of the BJP's culture of hatred and intolerance.
Highlighting Ambedkar's vision for a nation founded on principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity—where all classes, castes, creeds, and communities coexist peacefully—Banerjee stated: "This is not merely an insult to Babasaheb Ambedkar but a direct affront to the entire Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution, a violation of our freedom fighters' legacy, and a betrayal to our Dalit and Adivasi communities."
