More than 6,000 young people from across India converged at Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi on 6 June 2025 for the 'Youth for Viksit Bharat – MY Bharat Youth Convention', a large-scale gathering organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The convention, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of youth as a driving force behind Viksit Bharat @2047, brought together students, entrepreneurs, athletes, innovators, content creators, and young women leaders in a celebration of youth-led national development.

The attendee profile reflected a deliberate cross-section of India's aspirational youth — not just students and professionals, but emerging leaders, entrepreneurs, and sportspersons receiving public recognition. The convention's stated aim is to create a bridge between today's achievers and tomorrow's nation-builders, fostering a shared commitment to public leadership and social transformation.

Notably, this is one of the largest youth mobilisation events under the MY Bharat platform since its launch, signalling an institutional push to formalise youth engagement beyond electoral cycles.

Athletes and Achievers Speak Out

Gurindervir Singh, India's national record holder in the men's 100 metres, described the occasion as a milestone for athletes. 'This is a very proud moment for us. We are getting the opportunity to come on such a big stage. Our government has helped us a lot in our sports. We were provided with all facilities. Now, we are being honoured; it is a proud moment for us,' he said.

Hockey player Rajendra Singh echoed the sentiment, offering congratulations to fellow sportspersons being recognised. 'I think it is a great feeling. First of all, congratulations to all the athletes who are receiving awards. It is a wonderful feeling. As an athlete, I am very happy for them,' he said.

Cricketer Jitesh Sharma praised the Prime Minister's personal engagement with sports, saying, 'As a Prime Minister, he is very involved in sports and supports athletes a lot. He is aware of every player's victories and defeats, and his support and tweets are very encouraging.' Sharma also reflected on youth solidarity: 'When it comes to youth, it always feels good. Because when your brothers move forward, it makes you very happy.'

Entrepreneurs on India's Innovation Momentum

Aman Gupta, co-founder of consumer electronics brand boAt, highlighted a notable shift — talented Indians who had moved abroad are reportedly returning to build businesses at home. 'If you see, our country is becoming a very strong nation for entrepreneurs. In the United States, many Indians are returning to India... AI has become very popular in India. The youth are now driving the next wave of innovation in our country,' Gupta said, drawing a parallel to the Bollywood film Swades.

Youth in Politics: A New Wave

Maithili Thakur, a Bihar Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, positioned herself as an example of the government's stated push to bring 1 lakh young people without political backgrounds into public life. 'I can confidently say that I also stand before you today as one of those young leaders. This is a matter of great pride for my family and me,' she said. Thakur added that the Prime Minister 'understands us, the youth, and motivates us a lot.'

The Road Ahead

The MY Bharat platform, functioning under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, is positioning conventions like this as recurring touchpoints for structured youth engagement with governance and development goals. With India's median age hovering around 28 years, the government's bet on youth-led growth as a pillar of the Viksit Bharat @2047 roadmap is set to intensify in the coming years.
