Bhopal, Aug 18 (NationPress) After 12 days, the mysterious case of Archana Tiwari, a 28-year-old civil judge aspirant, remains unresolved. Despite extensive searches conducted by both the Railway and Madhya Pradesh Police, her whereabouts are still unknown.
Archana reportedly boarded the Indore-Bilaspur Narmada Express on the evening of August 7, leaving a note in her hostel register indicating she would return by August 17. However, she disappeared without a trace between Indore and Katni.
Bhopal Superintendent of Police (Railway) Rahul Kumar Lodha informed IANS that three teams, comprising over 25 police personnel, have been actively searching various locations, yet she remains unaccounted for.
"Her last known location was at Rani Kamlapati Railway Station in Bhopal. We are currently reviewing CCTV footage and conducting searches. The Bilaspur Railway Police have also been involved, as she boarded the train from that station," Lodha stated during a conversation with IANS on Monday.
The mobile phone's IP address traced her to Itarsi railway station, prompting an extensive search in surrounding forest areas for the past three days. In addition to forest searches, investigators explored other potential locations between Bhopal and Itarsi, but no significant evidence was uncovered.
"We have interviewed all co-passengers and train staff, including ticket collectors and attendants. We have also reached out to her friends and family, but they are equally puzzled by her sudden disappearance," Lodha added. Her last communication was around 10:15 p.m., when she informed her aunt that she was near Bhopal.
The CCTV footage confirmed her presence at Rani Kamlapati station, but she was not seen afterward. Her mobile phone went silent, and her belongings—including Rakhi gifts—were later found abandoned on her seat at Umaria station. Even a coach attendant was nearby, suggesting that the possibility of a kidnapping is unlikely.
Lodha mentioned that the train route traverses dense forests and rugged terrain, complicated further by monsoon rains. Despite these challenges, he expressed optimism that the search teams would achieve a breakthrough soon. The Government Railway Police, district police forces, cyber cell specialists, and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) divers have all been mobilized, Lodha said.
Investigators have also contacted her friends, fellow students, hostel mates, and even taxi services to track her movements prior to boarding the train. A CCTV clip from her hostel shows her talking on her phone while leaving, dressed in an orange-collared outfit and carrying her travel bag. However, despite their diligent efforts, authorities remain tight-lipped about certain developments.
