New Delhi, July 8 (NationPress) In a significant blow to the illicit drug industry, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Jodhpur Zonal Unit dismantled an undercover facility engaged in the production of the synthetic narcotic Mephedrone (MD) in Sri Ganganagar on Tuesday.
Responding to intelligence reports, NCB officials executed a raid at a residence within Dream Homes Apartments, Ridhi Sindhi Enclave, during the early hours of July 8.
The apartment had been transformed into a fully operational lab for synthesizing MD, a potent stimulant commonly referred to as “Meow Meow” or “Party Drug,” notorious for its addictive nature and severe psychological and physical health implications.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of approximately 780 grams of the illicit stimulant and the apprehension of two suspects—both of whom are employed as school teachers.
"During the search at the flat in Dream Homes Apartments, Ridhi Sindhi Enclave, Sri Ganganagar in the early hours of July 8, 2025, the NCB team seized nearly 780 grams of MD," the NCB stated in their press release.
"In addition, a variety of precursor chemicals, including Acetone, Benzene, Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate, Bromine, Methylamine, Isopropyl Alcohol, 4 Methyl Propiophenone, N Methyl 2 Pyrrolidone and laboratory equipment were confiscated, which are essential for synthetic drug production," it further added.
The detained suspects, aged 35 and 25, are both from Sri Ganganagar.
One is a chemistry teacher at a private institution, while the other teaches science at a government school.
Initial investigations indicated that they had leased the apartment two months prior to establish the illegal lab and had procured the necessary chemicals and equipment from Delhi.
"To combat drug trafficking, the NCB calls for public cooperation. Any individual can anonymously report narcotics-related activities by contacting MANAS—National Narcotics Helpline Toll Free Number-1933, ensuring the caller's confidentiality," the agency remarked.
