New Delhi, Jan 30 (NationPress) The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has uncovered a clandestine laboratory in Jodhpur for manufacturing Mephedrone (MD), which was capable of producing approximately 200 kg of the drug destined for the illegal market, an official reported on Friday.
This operation was executed on Thursday as part of Operation Prayogshala, in collaboration with the Jodhpur Gramin Police. The official indicated that three main suspects are currently evading capture.
During the raid, the NCB team retrieved various laboratory and industrial apparatus, including borosilicate jars, glass tubes, an electric induction motor, and an industrial electromagnetic stirrer, along with other equipment utilized in the synthesis of synthetic drugs.
Earlier, on January 25, NCB Jodhpur confiscated 1.089 kg of Mephedrone in Jodhpur. Acting on precise intelligence, the NCB intercepted two individuals on a motorcycle who were carrying a black bag filled with contraband, leading to the apprehension of two additional suspects.
Investigations revealed that one of the three primary suspects had established three secret Mephedrone production facilities in Bengaluru, with the confiscated MD traced back to these locations.
In the ongoing investigation, NCB Jodhpur, in conjunction with the Jodhpur Gramin Police, executed a search warrant at a farmhouse situated on Soyla, Dandore Road, Jodhpur, resulting in the acquisition of the aforementioned laboratory apparatus. All three key suspects remain at large, with efforts underway to locate them.
In a related incident, the NCB dismantled a significant inter-state drug trafficking network and clandestine drug manufacturing site in Mysuru, Karnataka, as per an official statement.
The statement indicated that drugs worth approximately Rs 10 crore in the street market, along with Rs 25.6 lakhs in cash, a Toyota Fortuner vehicle, and over 500 kilograms of various chemicals have been seized thus far.
The facility in the Hebbal Industrial Area, Mysuru, Karnataka, housing the illicit lab, has been sealed for examination by forensic experts.
Additionally, based on intelligence, a Toyota Fortuner SUV with Karnataka registration was intercepted at Palsana, Surat district, Gujarat, on January 28, leading to the recovery of about 35 kg of Mephedrone (MD).
