Patna, Sep 24 (NationPress) Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched a fierce critique of the NDA government in Bihar and the Narendra Modi-led Centre during the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Patna, charging the ruling alliance with incompetence on various fronts—from unemployment and inflation to the degradation of democratic institutions.

After the high-level meeting at Sadaqat Ashram, Baghel compared the BJP-JD(U) coalition to a dysfunctional machine.

“Currently, Bihar has a double-engine government, yet this government is merely smoke and mirrors. Its ring and piston have completely failed. The government is lifeless. We are witnessing the highest unemployment rates,” Baghel stated, branding the Nitish Kumar-led administration as weak and ineffective.

He also criticized the Modi government, alleging that it is undermining democratic institutions and misusing federal agencies.

“There are efforts underway to weaken the institutions that uphold the nation’s democracy. The CBI and ED are being weaponized against political adversaries. The Election Commission, once impartial, is now being coerced by the BJP to function in its favor,” he alleged.

Addressing economic hardships, Baghel noted that ordinary citizens are struggling to fulfill basic needs due to rising inflation and poor policy decisions.

“When individuals lack the funds to celebrate, what will they purchase? The Congress opposed the implementation of GST. The Prime Minister called it a revolutionary step, labeling it a second independence. Now, by reducing five slabs to two, he is making similar claims again. The populace is being robbed, and their purchasing power has plummeted,” Baghel asserted.

He also expressed concerns regarding India’s foreign policy and security challenges, criticizing the government for failing to confront international pressures.

“Our leader, Rahul Gandhi, has persistently raised concerns about China’s interference and infiltration. The situation in our neighboring countries—Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal—is alarming. Nepal’s executive, judiciary, and legislative systems have been dismantled. Following a friendship with America, the country is now suffering. Even after Operation Sindoor, when India sought global backing, no nation supported us. Instead, the US and Modi’s ally Trump imposed a 50% tariff on India, and the government did not protest,” Baghel alleged.

He revealed that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge initiated the CWC meeting by addressing critical issues such as unemployment, delayed MNREGA payments, and India’s worsening economic conditions.

“Our national president clarified that the escalating unemployment, delayed payments to MNREGA workers, and the deteriorating economic landscape are direct consequences of the Modi government’s failures,” Baghel concluded.
