New Delhi, May 5 (NationPress) In a remarkable demonstration of civic duty, NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Chahal inaugurated the ‘Clean NDMC’ initiative at the iconic Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place on Monday, aligning with the broader Swachh Bharat Mission championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Taking an active role, Chahal joined sanitation workers in a cleanliness campaign, personally sweeping the temple grounds and utilizing a robotic cleaning device to disinfect the area.
This event signifies the kickoff of a month-long sanitation effort within the New Delhi Municipal Council jurisdiction, engaging over 9,000 NDMC employees. The aim is to thoroughly clean and enhance the NDMC zone, which includes significant religious and public sites.
During the launch, Chahal stressed the shared responsibility of both citizens and sanitation personnel. “We have one vision, one mission: To advance Clean India and Clean Delhi. Today marks the launch of the Swachhata Abhiyan with this commitment,” he remarked.
He continued, “NDMC employs approximately 9,750 individuals, and we believe that each person should engage through shramdaan (voluntary service) and take accountability for cleanliness. Everyone should feel a sense of duty.”
Chahal underscored that the campaign transcends municipal efforts and represents a collective movement aimed at achieving a cleaner, more accountable India.
He commended the determination of the sanitation workforce, many of whom labored diligently even during holidays to launch this initiative.
The Clean NDMC campaign is anticipated to encompass public areas, marketplaces, parks, and other significant locations throughout the forthcoming month, involving both community volunteers and civic officials.
In addition to discussing civic duty, Chahal addressed national security issues following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. He issued a stern warning to those aiding and abetting terrorism.
“The honorable Narendra Modi government will respond decisively. Pakistan will bear the consequences of its actions. A significant response is forthcoming, one that the nation and the world will witness. Those who are terrorists or support terrorism will face repercussions that their descendants will remember,” he asserted.
