New Delhi, May 5 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is set to participate in a cleanliness initiative by contributing ‘Shramdan’ at the Hanuman Mandir complex located in Connaught Place on Tuesday, as announced by Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Vice Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
On Monday, Chahal spearheaded a ‘Mega Cleanliness Campaign’ at the Hanuman Mandir, forming part of the ‘One Hour Daily Shramdaan’ initiative.
Chahal noted that staff and officials from various departments of NDMC, including Education, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Health, and Fire Services, enthusiastically took part in this campaign.
Additionally, NDMC Chairperson Keshav Chandra conducted a concurrent campaign at Safdar Hashmi Marg, while Council Member D.P. Singh was active in Lodhi Colony and Council Member Sarita Tomar in the Moti Bagh area, along with other NDMC departments.
“In the upcoming days, more prominent figures, public representatives, and leaders from social organizations will engage in the drive, demonstrating their dedication to cleanliness and playing a crucial role in promoting hygiene throughout society. Their participation will bring renewed energy and community support to the campaign,” an official commented.
Chahal stated that approximately 9,500 NDMC employees participated in the cleanliness drive on Monday.
This initiative will extend until May 9 across all 14 sanitation circles of NDMC, where staff from each department will contribute one hour daily from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. towards cleanliness efforts.
“Individuals from various backgrounds and volunteers are also playing an active role. Furthermore, all schools, substations, hospitals, and dispensaries are conducting parallel cleanliness drives within their facilities,” Chahal added.
Labeling it a historic civic initiative for NDMC, Chahal emphasized that, for the first time, all employees are participating in public cleaning activities before commencing their official duties.
“This collective endeavor is acknowledged as one of the most extensive and inclusive sanitation campaigns executed by NDMC to date. To ensure effective coordination and responsibility, 14 Heads of Departments have been appointed as nodal officers, each tasked with overseeing one sanitation circle. These officers are responsible for managing field operations, deploying workforce, tracking progress, and compiling daily reports,” he explained.
