NEC meeting set to establish a robust framework for rapid development in the northeast: Minister

Agartala, Dec 20 (NationPress) Union Minister for the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that the upcoming 72nd Plenary of the North Eastern Council (NEC), which is set to occur on Saturday, aims to lay a new groundwork for the swift advancement of the region.
The DoNER Minister, who arrived on Friday evening to participate in Saturday’s meeting, mentioned that Home Minister Amit Shah would preside over the 72nd Plenary session of the NEC.
He expressed optimism that the northeastern region would soon experience a surge in development, a vision that has been outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as he spoke to the press at MBB airport.
Scindia highlighted that a comprehensive discussion is planned for Saturday, focusing on the NEC's activities over the past year and addressing the needs and aspirations of the states within the region.
Additionally, the Union Home Minister is set to lead a significant banking meeting aimed at revitalizing the economic framework of the northeast.
This banking meeting will see participation from top officials across nationalized, regional, and private banks, as stated by him.
Furthermore, a detailed examination is expected to take place regarding the unprecedented number of bank branches and deposits within the northeastern banking system.
Prior to the plenary session on Saturday, a pre-plenary technical session was conducted on Friday, chaired by MoS DoNER Sukanta Majumdar, where Chief Secretaries from all eight northeastern states, senior officials from the DoNER Ministry and the NEC, as well as representatives from each state, convened.
In addition to the three Ministers – HM Shah, Scindia, and Majumdar – the NEC meeting on Saturday will also include Governors, Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers, and senior officials from the DoNER Ministry, NEC, and all eight northeastern states for a full day of discussions.
