Joining them are newcomers Helen J. Shen, Conrad Ricamora, and comedian Caleb Hearon.
Additionally, familiar faces Tracie Thoms, who portrayed Lily, the handbag-obsessed best friend of Anne Hathaway’s character, and Tibor Feldman, the actor behind Irv Ravitz, the chairman of Runway’s parent company Elias-Clark, will reprise their roles in this sequel, as reported by variety.com.
They will share the screen with original film stars Meryl Streep, Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.
Supported by Disney’s 20th Century Studios, the sequel is currently in production and is scheduled for theatrical release on May 1, 2026.
While the specific plot details remain under wraps, it is rumored that the narrative will follow Runway’s formidable editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly as she maneuvers her career amidst the downturn of traditional magazine publishing.
She will confront Blunt’s character, her former assistant who has evolved into a high-powered executive for a luxury brand, controlling the advertising revenue that Priestly desperately requires.
Returning for the sequel are David Frankel, the director of the original film, and Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the screenplay, along with producer Karen Rosenfelt.
The sequel is based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel, “The Devil Wears Prada,” originally released in 2006. It follows the story of aspiring journalist Andy Sachs, who becomes an assistant at a prestigious fashion magazine, ultimately discovering the challenges of working for her demanding boss.
The original The Devil Wears Prada premiered at the LA Film Festival in 2006, where Meryl Streep’s performance received widespread acclaim.
Streep won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and received nominations for both the Academy Award for Best Actress and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.
