Kalyani, Jan 9 (NationPress) In a thrilling climax, Nita Football Academy triumphed over Sribhumi Football Club with a score of 3-2, as Pyari Xaxa netted the decisive goal in the very last moment of regular time at the Kalyani Stadium in Kalyani, West Bengal, on Friday.

The match began with an own goal from Sribhumi’s Karishma Shirvoikar, gifting Nita FA the lead in the 25th minute. However, Anju Tamang equalized just before halftime in the second minute of injury time. Pyari Xaxa reclaimed the lead for Nita FA five minutes into the second half, but Karishma responded again to equalize the match in the 67th minute.

As the game appeared destined for a draw, Pyari Xaxa executed a brilliant header to secure her 10th goal of the tournament, sealing a dramatic victory for Nita FA.

Nita FA’s points rose to 13 from seven matches, with four wins, one draw, and two losses. In contrast, Sribhumi FC remained at nine points from six matches, having won three and lost three.

This game was characterized by a mix of defensive lapses and strong teamwork, with Nita FA’s dedicated midfield proving crucial to their success.

Jasoda Munda, Cindy Remruatpuii Colney, and their Ghanaian midfielder Matilda Kwao contributed significantly, facilitating effective plays while also supporting the defense. Their relentless effort neutralized the threats posed by Sribhumi’s dynamic duo of Anju Tamang and Dangmei Grace, allowing Nita's defense to maintain a solid line and limit scoring opportunities.

Despite a couple of goals conceded due to miscommunications, goalkeeper Adrija Sarkhel faced minimal long-range threats.

Jasoda and Matilda frequently coordinated attacks, exemplified by a moment in the 10th minute when Jasoda's shot was easily caught by goalkeeper Monalisha Devi.

The left wing, led by the energetic Neha, continually pressured Sribhumi’s defense. Wing-back Mamta struggled against her pace, earning a booking from referee Pooja S for a foul in the second half. Neha’s delivery from the left resulted in a corner after Sribhumi cleared the danger.

Neha’s curling shot from a corner was inadvertently headed into her own net by Karishma, giving Nita FA the early lead.

However, Sribhumi struck back against the run of play. As Nita FA’s defense relaxed towards halftime, Sribhumi capitalized on a gap in the middle. After a failed clearance, Anju Tamang skillfully slotted the ball into an empty net, equalizing the score.

Nita FA regained control after the break, and a foul by Mamta on Neha led to a free-kick. From that set piece, Pyari Xaxa scored again, putting Nita ahead once more.

Sribhumi responded by ramping up their offense, with Rimpa Haldar's speed creating chances. However, it was Karishma Shirvoikar’s impressive goal that evened the score again, showcasing the competitive spirit of the match.

As the match approached its conclusion, a well-executed play from Nita saw Sussana Konadu pass to Neha, who delivered a precise cross. Pyari Xaxa, positioned perfectly, headed the ball into the net, marking her 10th goal of the tournament.

With the victory secured, Nita FA controlled the pace and confidently managed the final minutes, clinching the full points.
