New Delhi, Aug 3 (NationPress) Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane vehemently criticized NCP-SP leader Jitendra Awhad on Sunday regarding his inflammatory comments about Sanatan Dharma, alleging that he engages in appeasement politics and disrespects the beliefs of millions. Rane's remarks follow a wave of indignation against Awhad's purportedly derogatory comments towards the Hindu faith, igniting a political controversy throughout Maharashtra.
Addressing reporters in Amravati, Rane denounced Awhad's statements on Sanatan Dharma as profoundly offensive, suggesting they are an effort to curry favor with specific voter demographics.
Rane articulated, “The area from which Jitendra Awhad is elected serves as the base for jihadists. In his quest to appease them, he resorts to denigrating Sanatan Dharma.” He further challenged why certain Hindu leaders feel compelled to attack their own faith. “Have you ever witnessed a Muslim disparaging their religion? Why do individuals like Awhad, who were born into the Hindu faith, see the need to critique it? What sort of Hindu insults their own Dharma?” Rane queried.
He also called for senior NCP-SP figures Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule to articulate their position concerning Awhad's remarks. “Do Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule endorse Jitendra Awhad’s perspective on Sanatan Dharma? The citizens of Maharashtra deserve clarity,” he asserted.
In another statement regarding the recent unrest in Yavat, Pune, Rane claimed, “Hindus never instigate riots.”
He further asserted, “Those who instigate violence share a single hue — green.”
Commenting on the pro-Hindu rally conducted in Yavat, Rane stated, “Our Hindutva government will ensure that any individuals involved in riots and violence face the strictest consequences.” These comments are likely to heighten political tensions as demands for accountability and clarification intensify from all sides.
