Patna, Feb 25 (NationPress) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar criticized the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Tuesday for the substandard health infrastructure that persisted during the leadership of Lalu Prasad and his spouse Rabri Devi. Speaking at the centenary event of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, CM Nitish underscored the significant enhancements in Bihar's healthcare sector under his administration.

"The hospitals in Bihar were in a dire situation during the tenures of Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi. Prior to our governance in 2005, an average of only 39 individuals visited the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) for treatment. Now, over 11,000 patients seek treatment at PHCs each month. We have revolutionized Bihar's healthcare framework with enhanced facilities and infrastructure," asserted the Chief Minister.

CM Nitish further emphasized that the medical facilities have been modernized, allowing people to have better access to healthcare.

He noted that PMCH is set to transform into the world's second-largest hospital as it undergoes a major revamp with a budget of Rs 5,540 crore.

The facility will feature 5,462 beds and a helipad for air ambulances to cater to emergency situations.

"Significant progress has been made in the development of hospitals across Bihar. PMCH will evolve into a world-class healthcare institution," he stated.

The Bihar Chief Minister also condemned the RJD's governance before 2005 for its poor law and order situation.

"Before 2005, individuals hesitated to leave their homes after dark due to the prevailing lawlessness. The previous administration fostered division in society for political advantage. The education system was in disarray, and roads were scarce and in terrible conditions," the Chief Minister remarked.

Earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu received a warm welcome at the Patna airport from Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, CM Nitish, BJP National President J. P. Nadda, and Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha.

More than 3,500 former PMCH students from various parts of India and around the globe attended the celebration.
