Patna, Nov 28 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, conducted a thorough inspection of the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Friday to evaluate the advancements in the redevelopment efforts and the significant infrastructure initiatives underway.
The visit commenced at the Emergency Building of the PMCH, where he assessed the emergency unit's operations and inquired about the current state of medical services and facilities from the officials.
Following this, the Chief Minister examined various departments located on the hospital's third floor, such as the general medicine OPD, dental OPD, and gynaecology and obstetrics OPD.
During the walkthrough, Nitish Kumar proceeded to the sixth floor to scrutinize critical medical facilities, including the modular operation theatre, ICU, oxygen pipeline layout, consultation rooms, and more.
On the highest floor, he evaluated the air ambulance landing zone, instructing officials to ensure the boundary wall surrounding the helipad is constructed to a safe height.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for accelerating construction efforts and mandated that all projects be completed within the specified timelines and adhere to quality standards.
The redevelopment initiative for PMCH was launched on February 8, 2021, with numerous components completed since its inception.
On February 27, 2024, Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Combined Ultrasound and Biochemical Screening (CUB) unit, the Myosin Light Chain Phosphatase (MLCP) section, and the Nurses' and Girls' hostels, while also laying the foundation stone for the power grid building.
Subsequently, the Bihar State Blood Bank commenced operations on the second floor of the CUB building.
On May 3, 2024, Nitish Kumar unveiled the newly constructed tower 1-2 building, which features a basement accommodating parking for 120 vehicles.
The first floor of this building offers advanced diagnostic facilities including CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, and X-ray services, alongside ENT and Dermatology departments.
Departments of Medicine and Dermatology are located on the second and fourth floors respectively.
