Patna, Dec 24 (NationPress) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an inspection on Wednesday of the buildings currently under construction for the Bihar University of Health Sciences and the Bihar Engineering University (BEU) located in Mithapur, Patna.
During this visit, the Chief Minister received updates on the construction progress of the BEU from Pratima S. Verma, the Secretary of the Science, Technology, and Technical Education Department. Lokesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Health Department, also provided insights regarding the status of the Bihar University of Health Sciences building.
The Chief Minister emphasized that both universities aim to deliver top-notch technical and medical education to students within Bihar.
He instructed the relevant officials to ensure the construction of all facilities at both universities is conducted efficiently and adheres to the set timelines.
In his remarks, CM Nitish highlighted the advancements in the Mithapur area, noting that several esteemed educational institutions, including the Chandragupta Institute of Management, Aryabhatta Knowledge University, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chanakya National Law University, and Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University, have already been established there.
He stated that the completion of these two new universities would further bolster the educational infrastructure in the region.
The BEU was officially established on July 27, 2022, with five acres of land designated in Mithapur for its campus development.
The central university building will consist of four stories, encompassing a total built-up area of 1,11,732 square feet. The ground floor will accommodate the Dean's office, Registrar's office, cafeteria, and various administrative offices.
The first floor will feature the Vice-Chancellor's office, a meeting hall, and an evaluation center. The second floor will have office spaces, an evaluation center, and a store room. The third floor will comprise five archive rooms and a store room, while the fourth floor will include an evaluation center and two expansive multipurpose halls.
Additionally, a guest house with eight rooms and four suites, along with a caretaker’s residence, is also under construction on the campus.
Simultaneously, the new building for the Bihar University of Health Sciences is being developed under the state government's ambitious Seven Resolutions–2 initiative, which focuses on enhancing medical education in Bihar. The overall project area spans 27,567 square meters.
The primary university building will cover 12,645 square meters and will consist of administrative and academic blocks, examination halls, a dispensary, a multipurpose stage, waiting areas, an information center, an enrollment branch, the Chancellor’s office, and a training and placement division.
Supporting structures, covering 14,922 square meters, will include the Vice-Chancellor's residence, a university guest house, and a multipurpose auditorium.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the timely completion of these initiatives would greatly enhance the quality of higher education in Bihar.
