Agartala, May 15 (NationPress) Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Thursday that a plan has been initiated to engage with industry groups and create a strategic roadmap aimed at advancing investments in the northeast region.
The Chief Minister convened a virtual discussion with Union Minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia regarding ‘Investment Promotion’ in the region.
During the meeting, Saha shared on X that, as the Convener of the High-Level Task Force (HLTF) on Investment Promotion in the northeastern region, established by the North Eastern Council (NEC), he led its second meeting with the virtual presence of the DoNER Minister and senior officials.
“It was agreed to conduct consultations with stakeholders including industry associations, potential investors, and state officials from the northeast region to devise a strategic roadmap for fostering investments. Esteemed academic institutions and expert agencies will be invited to develop the investment policy for the northeastern region,” the Chief Minister stated.
Previously, on March 15, to enhance investment initiatives in the northeast, the DoNER Ministry established a high-level Task Force, appointing the Tripura Chief Minister as its Convener.
Following Thursday’s meeting, Scindia remarked on X: “I participated in a high-level task force on ‘Investment Promotion’ meeting led by Manik Saha, alongside Tshering T. Bhutia, Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation of Sikkim, and senior officials from the Meghalaya government, as well as my DoNER ministry team. Together, we are working towards a unified vision for a dynamic, investment-ready Northeast.”
For the advancement of key sectors across the eight northeastern states, several HLTFs were established after the 72nd plenary session of the North Eastern Council held in November of last year in Agartala, Tripura.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who chairs the NEC, led the plenary session.
