Northeastern India Presents Unique Treasures Unmatched Globally: Vice President Dhankhar

Itanagar, Nov 30 (NationPress) Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar remarked on Saturday that the northeastern region of India possesses extraordinary attributes that cannot be found anywhere else on the globe, emphasizing the noticeable effects it has had, with around 1.19 crore tourists indulging in the region’s unspoiled allure last year.

Speaking at the Special Session of the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly, Dhankhar noted that the northeast is rapidly integrating into the national framework, particularly concerning development.

With the establishment of 17 airports, 20 waterways, and significant digital connectivity, the region is evolving rapidly, Dhankhar stated, underscoring that its organic and natural farming practices can serve as a benchmark for other states.

“Indigenous resources such as bamboo, rubber, and various types of silk captivated me during my visit to the university (Rono Hills),” he expressed.

He pointed out that there are vast market possibilities in the region and recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to be vocal for local, promoting the concept of one district, one product.

Dhankhar observed that the northeast captured significant attention, particularly in the 1990s when policies were formulated.

He acknowledged that the Prime Minister elevated the 'Look-East' initiative to a new, more practical level, which could lead to transformative changes known as the “Act East policy.”

During his tenure as the Governor of West Bengal, Dhankhar stated he witnessed the benefits of this policy alongside colleagues from the Department of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and the Ministry, emphasizing the priority that has been accorded to this area by the nation.

The northeastern region is profoundly blessed with natural beauty, rich tribal culture, hospitable communities, excellent connectivity, pristine lakes, majestic Himalayan peaks, and ancient monasteries filled with timeless chants, making it a true paradise for travelers, he noted.

“The increased focus on the northeast is transformative, capturing the interest of the Prime Minister and everyone else. Every time I visit this area or journey deep into the South, we share a unique bond. We are united not merely by a common language but by our shared identity as part of this great nation,” Jagdeep Dhankhar concluded.
