Kamporijo Circle (Arunachal Pradesh), Feb 26 (NationPress) Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Act East’ initiative has led to remarkable advancements in Arunachal Pradesh, notably through the establishment of airports, railways, roads, and a telecom infrastructure, resulting in an investment potential of ₹5 lakh crore in the state's power sector.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the inaugural Mega Nyokum Yullo celebration in Kamporijo Circle of Kamle district, Dhankhar noted, “Years ago, the Government of India initiated the ‘Look East’ policy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has converted this into ‘Act East’, emphasizing that merely looking is insufficient; action is essential.”
“Through decisive action, we witness significant transformations. Be it air travel, airport establishments, railway links, road connectivity, or even the availability of 4G networks — these all signify the advancement in Arunachal Pradesh,” he emphasized.
Dhankhar highlighted, “Arunachal Pradesh can generate 50,000 MW of power. With an investment of ₹10 crore needed for every megawatt, this translates into an investment potential of ₹5 lakh crore in the state.
“Kiren (Union Minister from Arunachal) must possess some charm. He successfully persuaded the Prime Minister about this opportunity, urging everyone to take advantage of it, collaborate, and safeguard our culture. It brings me immense joy to be here in this context.”
The Vice-President also remarked, “For the first time in India’s past, the Buddhist community has been awarded minority status, and a Cabinet Minister position has been designated to a Buddhist leader. This historic milestone sends a powerful message worldwide.”
He stressed that this progress underscores “India’s unparalleled status, and we must remain infused with nationalism.”
“We cannot compromise on national interests, our dedication to the nation, or our commitment to serving it,” he stated emphatically.
Dhankhar celebrated India’s cultural unity, saying, “There is no other nation like India. Today, as you commemorate Nyokum Yullo, festivals like Holi, Baisakhi, Lohri, Bihu, Pongal, and Navanna are also being celebrated across the country. Regardless of where we are in India, our thoughts and traditions remain united.”
He further asserted, “Today, India is a formidable nation. No one can cast an evil eye upon us. Our Prime Minister ranks among the world’s most significant leaders, and you all are fortunate that the individual you trusted has also gained the Prime Minister’s confidence.”
“In a country with 140 crore people, and a Union Cabinet comprising slightly over two dozen ministers, Kiren Rijiju’s continuous inclusion is a testament to the ongoing progress in Arunachal Pradesh, under all circumstances and conditions.”
He praised the Union Minister’s contributions, stating, “He is a senior and influential minister at the Centre, having been elected to the Lok Sabha four times. This is why I assert, Kiren Rijiju, you envisioned the Frontier Highway. Your dream will be realized. I am aware of the vision you hold for Arunachal Pradesh and the considerable changes you have initiated.”
Reflecting on his earlier visit to the state, he said, “When I first came to Arunachal Pradesh, it was during the Statehood celebrations. I was captivated by your tribes and the pride of India.”
Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs, Rotom Tebin, MLA, 25-Raga, and other local leaders attended the event.
