Itanagar, Sep 22 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah remarked that the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has propelled Arunachal Pradesh to significant heights of development.
In a post on the social media platform X, HM Shah stated: “The Modi administration has taken Arunachal Pradesh to unprecedented levels of advancement. The inauguration of two significant hydropower projects alongside various development initiatives by PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji today signifies a landmark event.”
“These initiatives, which encompass power generation, healthcare, transportation, and welfare, will provide a fresh boost to Arunachal Pradesh's growth while unlocking the state's full potential. I extend my gratitude to Modi Ji for these projects,” the Home Minister expressed.
In a separate update on X, Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted that these projects, for which the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone on Monday in Itanagar, will generate job opportunities and enhance the cultural and heritage landscape, while revitalizing the development of the Northeast region on both emotional and social fronts.
During a grand public assembly at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the groundwork for 13 development initiatives valued at over Rs 5,127 crore in Arunachal Pradesh.
Among the 13 infrastructure projects initiated during the event at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar, two significant hydropower projects boasting a total generation capacity of 426 MW will be executed by the state-run North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO).
A state government official revealed that these two power projects, with an estimated budget exceeding Rs 3,700 crore, are being established by NEEPCO in partnership with the Arunachal Pradesh government.
The projects comprise the 186-MW capacity Tato-I hydroelectric project and the 240-MW capacity Heo hydroelectric project located over the Yarjep River in Shi Yomi district, with an aggregate annual generation capacity of 1,803 million units.
PM Modi also addressed a substantial public gathering at Indira Gandhi Park in the capital city. Following the commissioning of the two power facilities, the state is expected to receive free power valued at over Rs 98 crore, along with a Local Area Development Fund exceeding Rs 16 crore each year for community enhancements, according to an official statement.
Additionally, the Prime Minister virtually laid the foundation for a modern integrated convention center in Tawang.
The convention center, with a budget of Rs 147 crore, will not only host meetings, conferences, and exhibitions but will also create livelihood opportunities in tourism, services, and handicrafts, the official noted.
Moreover, the Prime Minister laid the groundwork for 10 infrastructure projects totaling Rs 1,291 crore, which include the extensive 1,830-km Frontier Highway project and the second phase of the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP).
