Itanagar, Feb 26 (NationPress) Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar remarked on Wednesday that many years ago, the government initiated the 'Look East' policy, which was later redefined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi into 'Act East', emphasizing that mere observation is insufficient; action is crucial.

The Vice President pointed out that following this shift, significant transformations have been observed.

"From air travel and airport developments to railway and road connectivity, along with the expansion of 4G networks, these advancements are clear indicators of progress in Arunachal Pradesh," he stated.

Speaking at the inaugural Joint Mega Nyokum Yullo Celebration in the Kamporijo Circle of Kamle District, Arunachal Pradesh, VP Dhankhar highlighted, "Arunachal holds the potential to generate 50,000 MW of power. The investment needed to produce 1 MW of electricity is approximately Rs 10 crore, suggesting a total investment opportunity of Rs 5 lakh crore in the region."

He remarked on the influence of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, stating that "(Rijiju) has a unique ability to persuade the Prime Minister and urged everyone to embrace this opportunity, collaborate, and maintain cultural heritage."

VP Dhankhar also noted that, for the first time in India's history, the Buddhist community has received minority status and a Cabinet Minister role has been assigned to a Buddhist leader. This landmark event sends a powerful message globally, he observed.

He stressed that these developments affirm India's unmatched status as a nation, stating, "We must remain filled with nationalism."

"We cannot compromise on our national interests, our commitment to the nation, or our determination to serve it," he asserted.

The Vice President underscored India’s cultural unity, saying, "No nation compares to India. As you celebrate Nyokum Yullo today, other festivals like Holi, Baisakhi, Lohri, Bihu, Pongal, and Navanna are celebrated nationwide. Regardless of our location in India, our thoughts and traditions remain interconnected."

He further mentioned, "India is now a resilient nation. No one can undermine us. Our Prime Minister ranks among the world's leading leaders, and you are fortunate that the individual you entrusted has also gained the Prime Minister's confidence. In a nation of 1.4 billion, with a Union Cabinet of just over two dozen ministers, Kiren Ji’s ongoing inclusion signifies continuous progress in Arunachal Pradesh, regardless of the circumstances."

He praised Union Minister Rijiju's contributions, saying, "Kiren Rijiju is a senior and influential minister at the Centre, elected to the Lok Sabha four times. Hence, I say, Kiren ji, you envisioned the Frontier Highway, and your vision will materialize. I recognize your ambitions for Arunachal Pradesh and the substantial changes you’ve initiated."

Recalling his previous visit to Arunachal Pradesh, VP Dhankhar stated that he was captivated by the state's tribes and the pride they embody.

In attendance were Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, local MLA Rotom Tebin, Nyishi Elite Society President Tana Showren, various senior figures from the Nyishi community, and other dignitaries.
