New Delhi, March 16 (NationPress) The Norwegian Ambassador to India, May-Elin Stener, experienced her inaugural journey on the Delhi Metro, describing it as a remarkable means of transportation within the National Capital.
She commended the Delhi Metro for being rapid, spotless, and exceptionally efficient. Stener shared clips and images from her first metro journey, displaying her seated within the metro and navigating the stairs at the station.
While posting her reflections on X, Stener remarked, "I took a ride on the Delhi Metro for the first time this weekend! It's fast, clean, and super-efficient. A fantastic way to navigate Delhi. I wish I had tried this sooner! I will certainly use it again."
This is not the first occasion a foreign dignitary has utilized the Delhi Metro.
Earlier this January, Toshimitsu Motegi, the Japanese Foreign Minister, along with Ono Keiichi, Japan's Ambassador to India, also rode the Delhi Metro.
A statement from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) indicated that officials provided insights about the Delhi Metro project to the delegation. Subsequently, they rode from Central Secretariat to Patel Chowk and back.
DMRC's announcement on X stated, "His Excellency Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Foreign Minister of Japan, along with H.E. Mr. ONO Keiichi, Japanese Ambassador to India, utilized the Delhi Metro today. The delegation received a briefing about the Delhi Metro project from senior DMRC officials at Central Secretariat, followed by a train journey from Central Secretariat to Patel Chowk and back."
"During his visit, the Hon'ble Minister expressed a strong interest in various elements of the Delhi Metro's construction and operation, which stands as a proud emblem of Indo-Japanese friendship and collaboration. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has supported the Delhi Metro project since its Phase 1," it added.
As reported by the DMRC, the metro network currently operates over 300 train sets featuring four, six, and eight coaches. The organization claims that the Delhi Metro has made significant contributions to environmental sustainability by becoming the first railway project globally to earn carbon credits for regenerative braking.
