New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi has lodged a complaint with the national child rights authority against Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for allegedly revealing the identities of juvenile inmates during a visit to a shelter home.

In a correspondence directed to the chair of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), Oberoi accused CM Gupta of openly violating the regulations designed to safeguard the identities of vulnerable children, particularly those who require care and protection, during her visit to the Asha Kiran shelter home for individuals with mental challenges.

Targeting CM Gupta, Oberoi stated: "In light of the serious nature of this infraction and its possible consequences for the affected children, I implore you to promptly take decisive action against Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and any other parties involved in this infringement."

Referring to a video news segment showcasing the CM's interaction with children at the shelter home, the AAP leader requested that the panel, "investigate the conditions surrounding this violation; evaluate the repercussions of this exposure on the impacted children, and ensure they receive the necessary support and interventions. Additionally, implement more rigorous control and oversight measures to avert such violations in the future."

The actions taken by the CM not only undermine the legal protections established by the Juvenile Justice Act but also risk exposing these children to stigma, discrimination, and harm, thereby jeopardizing their rehabilitation and social reintegration efforts, stated Oberoi.

The AAP leader emphasized: "During her visit to the Asha Kiran Shelter Home, the Delhi CM revealed the identities of multiple juveniles who are not only in need of care and protection but also suffer from mental or physical challenges."

She asserted that the alleged disclosure directly violates the Juvenile Justice Act, which strictly forbids the identification of such children.

"The video evidence clearly indicates that Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta failed to comply with these legal requirements, thereby compromising the privacy and safety of these vulnerable children," she concluded.
