Is Rekha Gupta Right to Defend Against AAP's 'Memes' and Jealousy Towards Delhi’s Woman CM?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 9 (NationPress) Addressing the recent attacks from AAP leaders aimed at a female head of government, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta asserted on Friday that her administration has accomplished significantly more in its initial 11 months than what the AAP regime achieved over the span of 11 years.
Wrapping up the debate on the Motion of Thanks regarding the Lieutenant Governor’s Address in the Delhi Assembly, a resolute CM Gupta remarked, “Certain remarks I made in error have been weaponized by AAP leaders to target me.”
“While my errors were unintentional, yours are deliberate blunders,” she stated, condemning the disrespectful language employed by AAP figures towards Sikh Gurus.
“We will not stand for any disrespect towards Sikh Gurus,” CM Gupta emphasized, pointing to the alleged “offensive remarks” made by Leader of Opposition Atishi during discussions in the House and the corruption that the AAP government has perpetuated over its 11-year rule.
Reaffirming her determination to confront the opposition's attempts to malign her reputation, the Chief Minister declared her commitment to serve the people of Delhi to the fullest.
“These individuals cannot bear to see a woman Chief Minister working diligently. It irks them; they find it intolerable. At times, they resort to comments that dishonor her. They issue baseless claims and nitpick my words,” she said.
“What you did was not a verbal slip. You intentionally misled the people of Delhi. The transition from the fast to ‘Sheeshmahal’ was not by chance... it was a calculated political maneuver. It was a conspiracy,” she articulated.
Presenting her government’s performance metrics, she underscored “clear policy and clean intent” as the foundation of the BJP government’s 11 months in office.
She noted that after years of distress, the national capital is striving to recover from discord and mismanagement through collaboration between all its agencies and the Central and Delhi governments.
This Vote of Thanks serves not merely as a formality but as a platform to illustrate the initiatives being undertaken to enhance services and implement welfare schemes, the CM stated.
“We are working diligently to transition Delhi's public transport to 100 percent EV. New ISBTs, renovation of existing depots, increasing capacity, and establishing EV charging stations are all in progress. We will also offer free travel for women and ensure a friendly, transparent system via pink cards,” she shared.
“We are delivering on every promise made to the people of Delhi. With the belief that no hardworking or impoverished individual in Delhi should go hungry, we are launching 100 Atal Canteens. 45 are already operational, with 55 more set to open shortly. This exemplifies a new model of service. This illustrates the distinction between their 11-year government and our 11-month government,” she concluded.
