Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 27 (NationPress) In a bold address at the Assembly, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta criticized the former AAP administration for its financial mismanagement and corruption, which resulted in significant delays and increased costs in the development of hospitals and schools.
Gupta remarked that the previous year was significant, as her government made concerted efforts to enhance service delivery.
“Our work will now focus on substantial outcomes rather than just headlines. We are committed to enhancing Delhi's future with complete accountability,” she stated, assuring transparency regarding the utilization of public funds.
“Our goal is transformation rather than confrontation in Delhi. We prioritize performance over politics. I can confidently say we are among those who set new trends,” she concluded, wrapping up the discussion regarding the Annual Budget.
While addressing the MLAs during the Budget 2026-27 review and in light of harsh evaluations from the CAG regarding the Kejriwal administration's mismanagement, she noted, “Currently, our government faces a liability of Rs 2,000 crore attributed to hospitals.”
“In terms of education, our government is also burdened with a Rs 1,000 crore liability. The previous administration's mismanagement and corruption not only inflated project costs but also resulted in substantial liabilities for us,” she emphasized.
Additionally, Chief Minister Gupta criticized the Kejriwal administration for failing to disburse Rs 24 crore owed to athletes and Rs 18 crore to beneficiaries of the EWS scheme.
She announced the upcoming launch of three new Metro corridors this year, which will position Delhi as having the longest Metro network in India.
Furthermore, the Delhi government has extended financial support to civic bodies for comprehensive carpeting initiatives aimed at combating pollution.
“For pollution control, the city is advancing towards reduced emissions and automated testing for commercial vehicles,” she added.
