New Delhi, Nov 18 (NationPress) - Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta criticized AAP leaders on Tuesday for "fabricating stories" to mislead the public, dismissing claims of power outages in the capital.
In an interview with IANS, she stated, "They're having candlelight dinners, but claiming there's a power outage, that's not the case at all. It's just their habit. They are good story makers... So this story-making and story-telling is their specialty... The public is satisfied; we haven't received any such complaints from them."
Gupta also condemned the previous AAP government for "crippling" the finances of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) by selling shares and assets worth Rs 100 crore for only Rs 10 crore to a private company.
"We are working hard to gradually revive the DTC financially, but those who ruined the public transport system have no right to question our work after just eight months in office," remarked Gupta during the launch of 40 new e-buses and a modernized bus terminal in Azadpur.
She added, "It is their habit to question us on roads, hospitals, and garbage dumps, but they have no answers for the empty coffers they left in the city. There are no answers for the four incomplete hospital projects launched during Covid."
CM Gupta asserted that the previous government closed profitable inter-state DTC routes and blamed the AAP government for failing to introduce new buses, attributing the city's air pollution issues to this.
On social media, she highlighted the features of the new DTC terminal at Azadpur, stating, "It is a significant step towards making the capital's public transport faster, safer, and more passenger-friendly."
From this terminal, 116 buses will operate on 21 major routes, equipped with amenities like a bus pass section, a baby feeding room, a modern waiting lounge, and secure, covered walkways to enhance passenger comfort and safety.
Additionally, the terminal is directly linked to Azadpur Metro Station via a foot overbridge, improving inter-modal connectivity, according to Gupta.
"During the program, we flagged off 40 new e-buses dedicated to public service. Our government is continuously expanding the DTC fleet with e-buses to make Delhi's public transport cleaner and more environmentally friendly, furthering our efforts to combat air pollution," she concluded.
