New Delhi, March 24 (NationPress) On the eve of unveiling the Delhi Budget 2025-26, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented a CAG report in the Delhi Assembly, revealing that the DTC's losses surged by Rs 35,000 crore over six years, escalating from Rs 25,300 crore in 2015-16 to approximately Rs 60,750 crore by 2021-22.

The Opposition staged a walkout, insisting that all 14 CAG reports be presented together.

The discussion regarding “The Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on the Functioning of the Delhi Transport Corporation for the year ending March 31, 2022” was marked by turmoil in the Delhi Assembly, with the Opposition AAP members exiting in protest, demanding that all CAG reports should be tabled simultaneously.

Legislator O.P. Sharma criticized the corruption rampant in all departments under the AAP government over the last decade.

“A muffler man disguised as a beggar ended up on a golden toilet seat valued at Rs 7 lakh,” Sharma remarked.

He called for criminal charges against corrupt AAP officials, asserting that no department escaped the AAP government's corrupt practices.

“Special Pratibha schools were closed when a new Delhi Board was formed. Delivery wards in hospitals have shut down and there is insufficient funding for bus operations. Water, health, education, and all sectors have deteriorated due to the corrupt government,” he stated, urging that the CAG reports revealing the AAP government’s corruption be forwarded to the Public Accounts Committee.

Legislator Ajay Mahawar from Ghonda highlighted that a man dressed in a Rs 200 shirt managed to construct a ‘Sheesh Mahal’ worth Rs 175 crore.

The discussion surrounding the CAG reports will persist following the Budget presentation in the coming days.

“The people of Delhi are pleading for basic amenities,” he noted, comparing the previous AAP government to “Alibaba aur 40 chor.”

He also criticized former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for mistreating their party’s own Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal within his own residence.

He claimed the Opposition AAP members departed the House as they couldn’t confront the truths laid bare by the CAG report.

Subsequently, the House approved a motion proposed by Chief Minister Gupta to elect nine members from among the legislators to serve on the Committee on Public Accounts, Committee on Estimates, and Committee on Government Undertakings starting April 1, 2025.

The motion stated: “That the Members of this House do proceed to elect, as required under Rule 192(2), Rule 194(2), and Rule 196(2) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, nine Members each from amongst themselves to serve as Members of the Committee on Public Accounts, Committee on Estimates and Committee on Government Undertakings beginning from April 1, 2025.”
