New Delhi, April 1 (NationPress) The scene is primed for a heated verbal clash between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is set to present the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report regarding air pollution in the national capital.
In total, 14 CAG reports highlighting financial discrepancies and mismanagement during the past AAP administration will be introduced in the Assembly.
On Tuesday, CM Rekha Gupta will present the CAG report titled “Performance Audit on Prevention and Mitigation of Vehicular Air Pollution in Delhi”, which aims to “uncover” the shortcomings of the previous AAP government in addressing the city's hazardous air quality.
Prior to the CAG report's presentation, various ministers from Delhi and BJP representatives addressed the media, indicating that this will be yet another revelation of the failures and blunders of the Kejriwal administration.
Manjinder Singh Sirsa, in a statement to IANS, criticized the former government for allegedly concealing the CAG report that reveals its inability to combat air pollution effectively.
“If the earlier administration genuinely prioritized the environment and pollution control, why did they choose to suppress this report? This CAG report will disclose secrets that the residents of Delhi deserve to know,” Sirsa remarked.
He also condemned the AAP-led Punjab government for promoting extensive advertisements regarding liquor sales.
“Previously in Delhi, they offered free bottles of liquor with one purchase, and now the same promotional tactics are being employed in Punjab. The identical Kejriwal development model, which features the provision of cheap liquor, is being advertised in Punjab and is being showcased on the backs of auto-rickshaws,” he noted.
Kapil Mishra criticized the former administration for allegedly “plundering” the capital and depleting its financial resources due to poor governance.
“The Arvind Kejriwal administration has exploited Delhi. The CAG report regarding the liquor policy indicated corruption amounting to ₹2,000 crore. The DTC experienced a staggering revenue loss in the thousands of crores. Now, the CAG report on air pollution will unveil many more unsettling realities regarding rampant corruption during the AAP regime,” he stated.
Satish Upadhyay, BJP legislator from Malviya Nagar, asserted that the CAG report will illustrate how the residents of Delhi have suffered due to toxic air pollution and how the previous government failed on every front.
