Bhubaneswar, Jan 13 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, on Tuesday, inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 71 projects valued at over Rs 1,900 crore in the district of Keonjhar during an event held locally.
An official announcement indicated that CM Majhi laid the groundwork for 35 projects amounting to Rs 1,708 crore and inaugurated projects costing around Rs 194 crore. These initiatives encompass various sectors such as education, irrigation, transportation, tourism, and health facilities within Keonjhar.
Among the notable projects, the foundation for a Regional Plant Resource Centre was laid with an investment of Rs 50 crore. Additionally, 147 model Anganwadi centres were initiated at a cost of Rs 38.22 crore, and block-level stadiums in six blocks were established with an investment of Rs 101 crore.
Moreover, 104 ACRs, ICT labs, and boundary walls were inaugurated at various sites in Keonjhar for a total of Rs 21.50 crore. A Nicholson Forest Training School was also set up in Champua with an investment of Rs 14 crore, while the DMF Khani Shakti skill training centre was launched at a cost of Rs 9.60 crore.
During his address, the Chief Minister referenced the Maa Tarini Temple Development Project, stating that since its foundation stone was laid, a 'rocket engine has been added to the double-engine development vehicle of Keonjhar.'
He emphasized that Keonjhar is poised to significantly boost Odisha’s economy as a steel hub. Plans include upgrading most roads to six lanes and constructing a ring road in Barbil. He expressed confidence that within the next three to four years, Keonjhar would emerge as one of the leading districts in the state, reiterating the significance of the 35 projects worth Rs 1,708 crore and the inauguration of 36 projects valued at Rs 194 crore.
CM Majhi highlighted the government's commitment to balanced regional development across Odisha, noting his long-standing advocacy against regional disparities, particularly affecting his own district.
“Upon taking office, the government established a task force for both the Northern and Southern Odisha Development Councils to tackle these issues. Once the reports are received, both councils will become fully operational,” concluded Majhi.
