Bhubaneswar, Nov 30 (NationPress) A significant issue has arisen for social media influencer Subhankar Mishra after a senior servitor of the historic Jagannath Temple, located in Puri, lodged a police report on Sunday. The complaint alleges that Mishra has offended the sentiments of the temple's devotees.
In the filed complaint, Gourahari Pradhan accused Mishra of attempting to mislead the youth by disseminating propaganda related to the revered Jagannath Temple, a spiritual hub for millions of Odias.
Pradhan further pointed out that Mishra's comments about the “curse of Maa Radha Rani” lacked citations from any Puranas or credible sources.
“This is nothing but cheap publicity. I vehemently oppose such actions that toy with the sentiments of countless Jagannath devotees. It causes me both mental and physical distress. Any efforts to tarnish the name of Mahaprabhu Jagannath will be met with resistance,” he stated.
He has called for the police to thoroughly investigate the situation and to take decisive action against those responsible.
Meanwhile, Puri district Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh informed reporters that the FIR has been registered and a thorough investigation is underway.
Singh mentioned that all audio and video evidence of Mishra's statements will be collected.
Legal counsel will also be sought, alongside input from the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, to ensure a comprehensive investigation.
Recently, Mishra claimed that couples visiting the Jagannath Temple prior to marriage are doomed to remain unmarried.
He purportedly stated, “Once, goddess Radha Rani attempted to visit the 12th-century shrine to see Lord Krishna as Jagannath. However, she was prevented from entering by the servitors, who explained that even the consorts of the Lord were forbidden from entering the temple; thus, her entry was impossible. Following this, Radha Rani cursed the temple.”
