Srinagar, Feb 24 (NationPress) Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of Jammu and Kashmir has shared his enthusiasm in participating in the anti-obesity campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On Monday, PM Modi selected CM Omar Abdullah as one of nine individuals to bolster the country’s battle against obesity.

“As highlighted in yesterday’s #MannKiBaat, I would like to nominate the following figures to enhance our efforts against obesity and promote decreased consumption of edible oils in our meals. I also urge them to nominate 10 others so we can expand our initiative! @anandmahindra @nirahua1 @realmanubhaker @mirabai_chanu @Mohanlal @NandanNilekani @OmarAbdullah @ActorMadhavan @shreyaghoshal @SmtSudhaMurty “Together, let’s make India fitter and healthier. #FightObesity,” PM Modi stated on his official X account.

In response, CM Abdullah nominated an additional ten individuals to further the awareness campaign on obesity.

“I’m extremely pleased to join the initiative against obesity initiated by PM @narendramodi ji. Obesity leads to various lifestyle-related health complications such as heart ailments, type 2 diabetes, strokes, and respiratory issues, along with mental health disorders like anxiety and depression. Today, I’m nominating 10 individuals to participate in the PM’s anti-obesity movement and asking them to each nominate another 10 to advance this battle,” the CM shared on X.

As a fitness advocate, CM Omar Abdullah truly merits his spot among public figures who are passionate about physical well-being.

Last year, during a marathon event in Srinagar, CM Abdullah astonished many by competing in the race alongside several renowned athletes from across the nation and beyond.

His typical day commences with an intense workout, and even during public engagements in remote regions, CM Abdullah prefers to walk. He dislikes receiving help with his luggage during journeys or being sheltered by someone holding an umbrella in the rain.

A few years back, CM Abdullah encouraged his party members to engage in regular exercise and promoted the idea by suggesting they share their workout routines on social media.

If given a chance, the 56-year-old politician eagerly embraces opportunities for cycling, trekking, or mountaineering.

It is anticipated that, inspired by his nomination from the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister of J&K can significantly contribute to spreading awareness and motivating others through the subsequent nomination of 10 individuals, as requested by PM Modi.

Even at his advanced age, CM Omar Abdullah's father and former CM Dr. Farooq Abdullah seizes every chance to enjoy a game of golf. Although not as committed to physical fitness as his son, Dr. Farooq Abdullah is known to regularly engage in golf or join in joyous dancing whenever the occasion arises. Between them, the elder Abdullah excels in socializing compared to his son, who values privacy when his political duties allow him time with family and friends.
