Outgoing Bihar DGP Alok Raj Describes His 105-Day Tenure as 'Satisfactory'

Patna, Dec 14 (NationPress) The outgoing Bihar Director General of Police (DGP), Alok Raj, conveyed that he found his tenure, lasting just a bit over 100 days, to be satisfactory. Following this, senior IPS officer Vinay Kumar was designated to take over the position.

During his short time in office, he focused on his commitment to serving the public and addressing their concerns while interacting with the media at police headquarters in Patna.

"Throughout my tenure, I made it a priority to ensure the accessibility of the public by holding regular meetings with citizens during office hours and addressing their complaints through systems like the Public Grievance Redressal mechanism," Alok Raj stated.

He also noted an event where three infamous criminals were neutralized during police encounters. Additionally, four other criminals sustained injuries in operations, and numerous wanted criminals with bounties on their heads were captured.

Under his leadership, a substantial amount of illegal arms and ammunition was confiscated.

He praised the integrity and hard work of his junior officers and staff, attributing the success of his time in office to their united efforts.

Special recognition was given to the Additional Director General of the Special Task Force (STF) and his team for their accomplishments.

"I am grateful to the Bihar government for the opportunity to serve as DGP. I conducted my duties with honesty and integrity throughout my career," Alok Raj remarked.

Even with the brief period of his tenure, his leadership positively influenced crime control and public service.

"In a murder case that involved the deaths of three individuals in Saran, the perpetrator was convicted by the court within 50 days post-crime. This was facilitated by new legal provisions, setting a precedent in the country for such a swift investigation and trial," he mentioned.

Alok Raj acknowledged the efforts of Saran Superintendent of Police Kumar Ashish and his team for their commitment, which expedited the resolution of this case.

"Law and order remained consistent throughout my term, with no serious disturbances reported," he added.

Alok Raj congratulated Vinay Kumar, his successor as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Bihar.

He shared a personal anecdote, revealing that they were classmates at Patna Science College during their ISC years (10+2).

The Bihar government appointed Vinay Kumar, a 1991-batch IPS officer, to succeed Alok Raj.

His statements highlighted a focus on maintaining public safety, improving police welfare, and supporting the judicial process during his brief yet impactful tenure as DGP.
