Avakash Kumar Takes Over as Patna's Senior Superintendent of Police

Patna, Dec 30 (NationPress) Avakash Kumar, a 2012 batch IPS officer, has officially taken charge on Monday as the new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Patna.

Upon his arrival at the SSP office, he was presented with a guard of honour. He subsequently held a review meeting with all the city SPs.

During this meeting, SSP Avakash Kumar highlighted his key priorities: tackling unresolved cases and ensuring that offenders face justice.

He stated that there would be a focus on crime control and investigative measures. “The plans set forth for preventing crime will be rigorously enforced, and offenders will not evade justice under any conditions,” Kumar stated, urging for public support.

Avakash Kumar hails from Simrav village in the Bhojpur district and holds a degree in mechanical engineering from IIT BHU. Prior to entering the police force, he worked for four years as a scientist at DRDO.

Bringing extensive experience to his new position, Kumar has previously served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Gaya, Ara, Begusarai, and Darbhanga.

He succeeds Rajeev Mishra, a DIG-ranked officer, who held the position of SSP for around two years and has now been reassigned as DIG in the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

Leading the police force in Patna is a significant challenge, given the city's frequent occurrences of crime, political activities, protests, and demonstrations.

Following the appointment of Vinay Kumar as the new Director General of Police (DGP) for Bihar, the state’s Home Department executed a major reshuffle, transferring 62 IPS officers, including Avakash Kumar, who took over as SSP of Patna.

Since Vinay Kumar assumed the DGP position, the Bihar Police has adopted a proactive stance. Numerous districts, including East Champaran, Rohtas, Gaya, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, and others, have seen strict measures, including the deployment of bulldozers to tackle law and order challenges.

These efforts reflect a renewed commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the state, with Patna, as the capital, at the forefront of these initiatives.
