Over 45 Fatalities Recorded Due to Israeli Breaches of Ceasefire with Lebanon

Beirut, Dec 30 (NationPress) At least 45 individuals have tragically lost their lives between November 27 and December 22 as a result of Israeli breaches of the ceasefire agreement, according to a source from the Lebanese army.
During this timeframe, the Israeli army also detained 17 civilians from border towns, all engaged in agriculture and livestock, as per the source's request for anonymity.
Reported violations encompass airstrikes, drone and aircraft activity over eastern and southern Lebanon, along with artillery bombardment, machine gun fire, incursions, road and agricultural field bulldozing, the construction of earthen barriers, and the burning and crushing of vehicles, as stated by Xinhua news agency.
As per evaluations by the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, over 816 land and air assaults were launched by Israel against Lebanon during the specified period, targeting border villages, booby-trapping homes, demolishing residential areas, and obstructing roads.
Candice Ardell, deputy director of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) media office, indicated on Sunday that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) communicated to their forces that the safety of peacekeepers could not be assured in the vicinity of the Taybeh area, necessitating that patrols steer clear of this region.
"Ensuring the safety of peacekeepers is of utmost importance, and we will avoid actions that may place them at undue risk," Ardell emphasized.
"We remind the IDF of their obligations under Resolution 1701 to safeguard the peacekeepers and facilitate their freedom of movement throughout the UNIFIL operational area in southern Lebanon," she added.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture noted that the latest Israeli assaults resulted in the destruction and bulldozing of the seed multiplication project established in Wadi al-Hujayr in 2020 with support from the World Food Program and funding from the European Union.
A ceasefire, mediated by the US and France, came into effect on November 27, aiming to terminate nearly 14 months of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
The ceasefire conditions entail Israel's withdrawal from Lebanese territory within 60 days, allowing the Lebanese army to take charge of security along the Lebanese-Israeli border and in the south, prohibiting any presence of weapons and militants.
Despite the ceasefire agreement, the Israeli army has persisted in conducting strikes in Lebanon, albeit at a considerably lower intensity, with some attacks leading to casualties in southern and eastern regions of Lebanon.
