Palaniswami Labels DMK a 'Failure Model', Critiques Stalin Government on Jobs and Flooding
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, April 8 (NationPress) Edappadi K Palaniswami made a pointed critique of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government on Wednesday, labeling it a “failure model” and urging constituents to vote it out of office in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
During a public gathering in Velachery, the AIADMK General Secretary accused the administration led by M.K. Stalin of not delivering on critical electoral commitments, especially concerning job creation for the youth and the filling of vacant governmental positions.
Palaniswami further criticized the government for its inadequate response to the persistent flooding during monsoon seasons in Chennai, particularly in low-lying regions like Velachery.
He stated that the DMK had failed to implement effective measures to prevent flooding, resulting in residents enduring repeated challenges during heavy rainfall.
“Despite being in power for five years, there has been no enduring solution to the flooding predicament in the city,” he remarked.
Describing the DMK as an “evil force,” the former Chief Minister expressed concerns over the declining law and order situation in the state, claiming that women, children, and the general public were increasingly feeling unsafe, with many living in fear under the current administration.
In contrast, he asserted that the AIADMK government had prioritized safety and taken decisive action against wrongdoers during its tenure.
Palaniswami urged voters to evaluate the DMK’s performance from 2021 to 2026 critically, questioning if the government had provided any real benefits.
He alleged that Chennai, despite its status as a major urban hub, had not experienced any notable new infrastructure or development initiatives under the current leadership.
Addressing specific local issues, Palaniswami highlighted that Velachery remained especially susceptible to waterlogging during the monsoon and accused the government of neglecting the numerous complaints from residents.
He pledged that an AIADMK government would prioritize flood mitigation and improvements in urban infrastructure if given another chance.
As the election campaign heats up, Palaniswami’s comments indicate a sustained focus from the Opposition on governance issues like employment, civic development, and public safety, as parties strive to influence voter sentiment ahead of the elections.
