Patna, Jan 13 (NationPress) Due to the ongoing cold wave conditions in Bihar, the Patna district administration has made a crucial decision regarding the operation of schools once again.
Patna District Magistrate Tyagarajan S.M. has issued an order for the closure of all government and private educational institutions for children below Class 1 until January 16.
As per the directive, children attending Play School, Nursery, LKG, and UKG will not be required to attend classes during this period.
Classes for students from Class 1 and above, however, will commence at 9:00 AM, while special courses and examinations related to the matriculation exam will continue as planned.
The district administration has indicated that this decision was made with the health and safety of young children in mind, as they are more vulnerable to illnesses related to the cold.
In recent days, temperatures have plummeted, resulting in severe cold conditions, especially during the early morning and evening hours.
The DM’s office has instructed all school managements—both governmental and private—to adhere strictly to this order, warning that administrative actions will be taken against those who do not comply.
Officials emphasized that this measure is purely precautionary, aimed at preventing seasonal illnesses, such as colds, coughs, and fevers, among younger children.
Parents have largely welcomed this decision, expressing concerns that sending small children to school in such severe cold poses health risks.
Teachers have also expressed their support, pointing out that reduced school hours help maintain academic continuity while ensuring the safety of students.
The district administration has assured that the situation will be monitored regularly. Should the cold wave worsen, the closure period may be extended, while an improvement in weather might lead to a revision of school hours.
Currently, this order applies to Patna district, ensuring that students below Class 1 will remain at home until January 16.
Previously, schools for Classes 1 to 5 were closed until January 13, and this latest order extends relief for younger children amidst worsening winter conditions.
