In a post on X, PM Modi remarked, “Tomorrow, 7th November, marks a significant day for every Indian. We honor 150 remarkable years of Vande Mataram, a moving call that has motivated generations and sparked an unwavering spirit of patriotism across our land.”
Discussing the festivities planned for the commemoration of the song’s 150th anniversary, PM Modi stated, “To celebrate this event, I will participate in a program in Delhi at 9:30 AM. A commemorative stamp and coin will also be unveiled. The highlight of the event will be a mass recital of Vande Mataram!”
The Friday event in Delhi will kick off a year-long celebration of the National Song.
Last month, PM Modi encouraged citizens to share their thoughts on how to celebrate the 150th year of Vande Mataram, which was created on November 7, 1896, by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee.
While speaking during the 127th episode of his monthly radio show, ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the Prime Minister expressed, “In ‘Mann Ki Baat’ now, let’s discuss a topic that resonates deeply with everyone. This topic is our national song -- India’s national song, ‘Vande Mataram’. A song whose very first word evokes a surge of emotions in our hearts. ‘Vande Mataram’ -- this one term embodies so many feelings, so much energy.”
“Simply put, it allows us to feel the maternal love of Ma Bharati. It reminds us of our duties as children of Ma Bharati. In moments of hardship, the chant of Vande Mataram fills 140 crore Indians with the spirit of unity,” he conveyed.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Vande Mataram symbolizes patriotism and profound love for the motherland.
