New Delhi, Jan 23 (NationPress) On the occasion of Parakram Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 128th birth anniversary and engaged with students at the Central Hall of Parliament.
During the interaction, PM Modi enthusiastically raised the slogan "Jai Hind" with the students, reflecting Netaji's patriotic essence.
He then posed a question to a student: "What resolutions do we need to achieve by 2047?" The student confidently replied, "To make India a 'Viksit Bharat.'"
When PM Modi asked about the importance of the year 2047, the students explained that it would commemorate 100 years of independence and symbolize a time when their generation will significantly contribute to the nation's advancement.
Sharing a light-hearted moment, PM Modi inquired what the students had brought for lunch. Upon hearing they had nothing, he chuckled and said, "I will not eat it. Were you afraid that I might have your lunch?"
Reflecting on Netaji's lasting legacy, he highlighted a major exhibition dedicated to Netaji's life journey in Cuttack, Odisha, his birthplace.
PM Modi also expressed his appreciation to the people and government of Odisha for organizing such a significant tribute.
When asked how they find inspiration in Netaji, the students shared that his life encourages them to strive for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to minimize India's carbon footprint.
He spotlighted one such initiative, revealing that 1,200 electric buses have been deployed in Delhi.
Additionally, he discussed the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, designed to provide up to 300 units of free electricity per month to households utilizing solar energy, which, according to the Prime Minister, has "significantly contributed towards reducing the carbon footprints and fighting climate change."
PM Modi encouraged the youth to draw motivation from Netaji's life and to venture beyond their comfort zones to realize the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat'.
He emphasized Netaji's choice to abandon a life of comfort, despite being born into affluence and qualifying for civil services, opting instead to devote himself to the nation's freedom struggle.
"Just as Netaji did, to achieve the resolution of a Viksit Bharat, we must step out of our comfort zones, strive for excellence, and aim to be globally competitive," stated PM Modi.
