In New Delhi on January 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the remarkable legacy of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary, which is celebrated every year as Parakram Diwas. The Prime Minister reflected on Netaji’s unyielding spirit, bravery, and lifelong commitment to India’s liberation, emphasizing his personal admiration for Bose and the historical importance of this day.

In a message shared on X, PM Modi expressed, “Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has always inspired me greatly.”

He recalled a significant event from his time as Chief Minister of Gujarat, where on January 23, 2009, he initiated the ambitious e-Gram Vishwagram Yojana aimed at revolutionizing Gujarat’s IT and digital governance framework. This initiative was launched from Haripura, a location closely linked to Netaji’s life.

“The scheme was inaugurated at Haripura, which holds a special significance in the life of Netaji Bose. I will always remember the warm reception I received from the people of Haripura, who organized a procession along the very road where Netaji Bose once walked,” PM Modi remarked, emphasizing the lasting influence of the freedom fighter.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid his respects to Netaji, noting that the entire nation was observing Parakram Diwas in honor of one of India’s greatest sons. “Figures like Netaji are few and far between. He faced numerous challenges, traveling thousands of kilometers from Germany to Russia and Japan, showcasing his relentless will to free the nation,” Shah stated, adding that Bose’s sacrifices would continue to motivate future generations to serve the country with honor and dignity.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari joined in paying tribute, identifying Netaji as the founder of the Azad Hind Fauj and a monumental figure in India’s independence struggle. He extended heartfelt greetings to the public on Parakram Diwas.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in a message shared on X, hailed Netaji as a true son of Mother India and remembered his powerful slogan, “You give me blood, I will give you freedom.” He noted that Bose’s bravery, valor, and selfless devotion provided new direction to India’s freedom movement, deserving of the highest esteem.
