Chennai, Nov 25 (NationPress) The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) is set to declare its electoral alliance on December 30, as stated by party founder Dr. S. Ramadoss. This announcement follows a significant high-level meeting held at Thailampuram Estate in the Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu.

The meeting occurred amidst some internal discord within the party, with various factions reportedly aligning with either Dr. Ramadoss or party President Anbumani Ramadoss.

Notwithstanding the underlying factional disputes, the meeting in Villupuram witnessed attendance from the party's entire organizational setup.

Key figures present included PMK Honorary President G.K. Mani, former party president T. Thirumavalavan (Thirun), General Secretary Murali Shankar, MLA Arul, Headquarters Secretary Anbazhagan, along with senior state administrators, district secretaries, and essential district-level leaders, all crucial for the discussions.

According to insiders, Dr. Ramadoss led the meeting, engaging in comprehensive discussions with district secretaries and functionaries on two pivotal topics: which party the PMK should partner with for the upcoming elections and the constituencies it should contest.

It is significant to highlight that the PMK participated in the NDA during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the 2021 state Assembly polls.

The PMK founder reportedly sought feedback from district leaders prior to developing a framework for the final decision-making.

After the meeting, Dr. Ramadoss addressed the media, announcing that a General Committee meeting is scheduled for December 30 at Thalaivasal in Attur of Salem district.

"The General Committee will convene to evaluate the alliance strategy. A decisive conclusion will be made based on discussions with party executives during this meeting," he said.

He also mentioned that the PMK plans to organize a statewide protest on December 12 against the Tamil Nadu government for failing to implement a caste-based census.

Accusing the Tamil Nadu government of neglecting longstanding demands for updated caste data, Dr. Ramadoss stated that the PMK would ramp up its agitation until the state commits to conducting the necessary enumeration.

The current developments occur at a politically critical time for the PMK.

With the Lok Sabha elections approaching and significant alliances in Tamil Nadu still evolving, the party's position is under close scrutiny.

The internal splits among supporters of Dr. Ramadoss and Anbumani Ramadoss add a layer of complexity, rendering the upcoming General Committee meeting vital for the party's electoral strategy.
