Noida, March 6 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to a gathering in Harsil, Uttarakhand, on Thursday, advocating for the enhancement of winter tourism. The leader of Kalki Dham, Pramod Krishnam, endorsed PM Modi's initiative during his visit.
In an interview with IANS, Pramod Krishnam lauded the visionary attributes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remarking: "He is a spiritual individual, profoundly connected to the spirit of patriotism. He is the first Prime Minister who cherishes every grain of India's soil and is wholly devoted to the nation. Uttarakhand, known as the land of gods, is a region where nature thrives.
He further expressed: "The majestic mountains and rivers of Uttarakhand are suffused with the splendor of nature. Everyone should experience this beauty and feel fortunate to witness it. In this regard, PM Modi made a heartfelt appeal to the populace, and I stand firmly behind his message.
Earlier, during his visit to Uttarakhand, PM Modi stated: "Tourism plays a crucial role for Uttarakhand. I aspire for Uttarakhand to be a destination for tourism year-round, without any off-seasons. The influx of tourists to Uttarakhand has shown remarkable growth in this decade. Prior to 2014, around 18 lakh pilgrims visited the Char Dham each year. Now, nearly 50 lakh pilgrims come annually. Winter tourism presents opportunities for activities like trekking and skiing, offering an exhilarating experience."
In response to the controversy regarding Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami not observing Roza (fasting during Ramadan), Pramod Krishnam remarked: "Any genuine Muslim should refrain from criticizing Mohammad Shami as he is representing his nation. Those opposing him for this reason, in my view, lack an understanding of Islam."
It is significant to note that during the Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal between India and Australia at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India triumphed by 4 wickets, earning a spot in the final.
During the match, Mohammed Shami was seen drinking an energy beverage, which drew criticism from some Muslim clerics.
