This will be the first instance of an Indonesian marching and band contingent participating in a national day parade outside their country.
The theme for this year's Republic Day is ‘Swarnim Bharat -- Virasat aur Vikas' (Golden India – Heritage and Development), which symbolizes India's rich cultural heritage and its ongoing journey of development.
The main highlight will be the annual Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path in the national capital, showcasing the military might of India.
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) has extended invitations to over 600 Panchayat leaders as special guests for the parade at Kartavya Path.
Although India achieved independence on August 15, 1947, it did not possess its own Constitution until the Constituent Assembly, led by Babasaheb B.R. Ambedkar, drafted a new Constitution, which replaced the British Government of India Act and came into effect on January 26, 1950.
In her address last year, the President honored Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and other Assembly members who contributed to the Constitution of India.
She also praised the initiatives of the Narendra Modi government, such as 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and Digital India during her speech.
