Ahmedabad, Dec 2 (NationPress) As part of the Congress' ongoing Jan Aakrosh Yatra in Gujarat, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi sharply criticized the governance of the state, claiming a significant disconnect between the BJP administration and the actual experiences of its citizens.
During his addresses across various districts, the Congress leader highlighted the increasing anxiety among women regarding the rise in drugs, illegal liquor, and crime—issues they feel are flourishing under political patronage.
He juxtaposed this with Gujarat's historical status as the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, pointing out that the youth of the state are being driven into a “dark world” that undermines its moral and cultural values.
Rahul Gandhi also criticized the Gujarat government's management of the recent floods, which wreaked havoc on agriculture and displaced countless individuals.
Despite the BJP's claims of a “double-engine” government at both state and national levels, he noted that families are still awaiting substantial relief and compassion.
He emphasized that farmers are left pondering why their loans have not been waived and why assessments of damage are lagging.
Charging the BJP-led state government with providing cover for wrongdoers while neglecting the common populace, the Congress leader stated that public frustration is mounting—and promised that Congress will persist in amplifying the concerns of the people and unveiling what he termed the BJP government's failures and corruption.
Simultaneously, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has intensified its crackdown on narcotics, recently executing a significant operation in Vadaj, leading to the arrest of a couple allegedly engaged in the sale and distribution of MD (Mephedrone).
Acting on credible intelligence regarding Kamlesh Bishnoi from Rajasthan and his wife Rajeshwari, who were purportedly operating a drug supply network from their residence, a Crime Branch team raided the location with independent witnesses present.
During the operation, conducted under the NDPS Act, authorities recovered suspicious substances from the couple's clothing and a plastic container inside the home.
Forensic specialists later confirmed the materials as Mephedrone.
In total, approximately 357.750 grams of MD, valued at nearly Rs 35.77 lakh, was confiscated along with Rs 22,800 in cash, two mobile phones, and an electronic weighing scale—bringing the total seizure value to Rs 36.40 lakh.
Interrogations indicated that the couple was part of a broader interstate network extending across Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
They reportedly obtained the drugs from a relative, Subhash Godara of Sanchore in Rajasthan, who sourced the supplies from Lucknow.
The duo sold narcotics to retail customers throughout Ahmedabad.
Police assert that this operation has successfully disrupted a critical supply chain, and a case has been filed under the NDPS Act.
A search is ongoing to locate the primary supplier and other accomplices involved in the drug trafficking network.
