Chandigarh, Sep 7 (NationPress) Demonstrating his steadfast dedication to the well-being of the state's residents, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is diligently overseeing the extensive relief and rescue efforts for flood victims from his hospital bed, as confirmed by officials on Sunday.
While recuperating at Fortis Hospital, the Chief Minister has organized a meeting with Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha, DGP Gaurav Yadav, and other senior officials.
Expressing profound concern regarding the ongoing flood crisis, the Chief Minister has instructed the Chief Secretary to ensure that not a single individual affected by this natural disaster is overlooked. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of providing food, clean drinking water, and medical assistance to those, especially the isolated, who have been cut off from the main areas.
Following their discussions, Chief Secretary Sinha indicated that the Chief Minister is recovering swiftly and is anticipated to join ground operations in a day or two. His thoughts and prayers remain with the thousands of families impacted by the devastating floods, he added.
The Punjab Government is united and resolute in its mission to address the damages caused by the floods and to reconstruct every impacted home, the official stated.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister was informed that over 387,898 individuals have been directly displaced, with more than 2 million people affected across 2,050 villages in all 23 flood-affected districts, critically impacting the state's economy.
To date, the Punjab government has successfully evacuated 22,938 individuals from the most severely affected regions. Furthermore, 219 relief camps have been established, accommodating a total of 5,404 individuals.
It was reported that approximately 176,980.05 hectares of agricultural land have been impacted across several districts. Tragically, 48 individuals have lost their lives, and 3 remain unaccounted for in Pathankot district.
