Chandigarh, Sep 6 (NationPress) The health of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has shown significant improvement, and officials have indicated that he is expected to be discharged from a private hospital in Mohali soon.
Chief Minister Mann was admitted to the hospital on Friday evening after experiencing exhaustion, a low heart rate, and a high-grade fever for the preceding two days.
A medical update from Fortis Hospital released on Friday stated, “Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was admitted after he reported exhaustion and a low heart rate. Upon arrival, his vital signs were evaluated and have since stabilized. He is currently under observation, and his pulse rate has improved. Our medical team is diligently monitoring his health.”
Earlier, due to his high fever, Mann had to cancel a scheduled Cabinet meeting.
The Chief Minister also had to withdraw from a planned visit to flood-affected villages alongside the AAP’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal in Kapurthala on Thursday, as he was not feeling well enough to travel.
The Cabinet meeting was organized in light of the extensive relief and rescue operations taking place in the flood-impacted state, which has recorded 43 casualties.
On Thursday, Arvind Kejriwal mentioned that Chief Minister Mann was supposed to accompany him to the flood-stricken areas but fell ill after continuously touring the region for three to four days without adequate rest or meals.
“I spoke with him this morning and urged him to rest for two days as his health had declined. Yet, even in this state, his primary concern was how to ensure maximum relief for the people of Punjab,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mann has instructed that a gazetted officer be assigned to every stranded village to oversee the relief efforts.
He emphasized the importance of direct communication between the administration and the citizens, stating that a gazetted officer will be dispatched to each village.
