Chandigarh, Sep 6 (NationPress) The well-being of Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann showed positive signs on Saturday, with his blood parameters gradually improving. However, he will remain hospitalized for a few additional days, where medical professionals have permitted him to continue working due to his improved condition.
On Friday evening, he was admitted to the hospital after experiencing exhaustion, a low heart rate, and a high-grade fever for two consecutive days.
A medical update from the hospital confirmed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann continues to make strides in his recovery, indicating that his vital signs are stable and his blood parameters are on the upswing.
“He is under observation,” the hospital stated.
AAP leader and state in-charge Manish Sisodia, who visited CM Mann in the hospital, informed the media, “The CM will remain hospitalized for one to two days and will continue to work from here.”
A day prior, due to his illness, the scheduled Cabinet meeting was canceled.
The Chief Minister had also to postpone his visit to flood-affected villages alongside AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal in the Kapurthala district at the last minute, as he was unwell and unable to travel.
After visiting CM Mann, Cabinet colleague and Finance Minister Harpal Cheema announced to the media that the Chief Minister is improving but has been advised to stay in the hospital for another two to three days.
“CM Bhagwant Mann had been unwell for the past two to three days and was hospitalized last night… He will ensure compensation for those affected by the floods,” he mentioned.
The Cabinet meeting was called amidst extensive relief and rescue operations ongoing in the flood-hit state, which has tragically seen 43 fatalities.
AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal stated that Chief Minister Mann was supposed to accompany him to the flood-affected regions but fell ill after continuously touring the area for three to four days without proper rest or meals.
“I met him this morning and urged him to take a two-day rest since his health had declined. Yet, even in his condition, his primary concern was how to provide maximum relief to the people of Punjab,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mann has instructed that a gazetted officer be assigned to every marooned village to oversee the relief efforts.
