Punjab Police Apprehend Juvenile Among Two Members of ISI-Supported Terror Group

Chandigarh, Dec 13 (NationPress) Punjab Police has reported a significant breakthrough in their efforts against terrorism by disrupting a terror module supported by Pakistan’s ISI. This operation targeted Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Harvinder Rinda and Harpreet Singh, resulting in the arrest of two individuals, including a juvenile, who confessed to having placed an improvised explosive device (IED) at a police station located in Ajnala, as stated by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Jashandeep Singh, a 17-year-old from Amritsar. Law enforcement teams also seized two Chinese-made P86 hand grenades and a Turkey-made 9MM Zigana pistol along with ammunition from their possession.
This incident follows the discovery of an IED placed near the police station on November 23, 2024. Notably, the terrorist organization BKI claimed responsibility for this act via social media platforms.
DGP Yadav indicated that initial investigations have shown that the accused Jashandeep Singh, known as Danny, and the other arrested individual were in contact with Gurdev Jaisal, who lured them into criminal activities with promises of money and drugs. In addition to plotting terrorist acts, Jaisal also exploited them for drug trafficking, the DGP added.
Both suspects confessed to placing the IED at the police station under the guidance of their handlers and disclosed that they had received multiple shipments of weapons and explosives.
Further investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network involving Rinda, Happy Passia, and Jaisal. Authorities are working to identify and capture additional associates in order to bring the case to a conclusion, the DGP noted.
In sharing the operational details, Assistant Inspector General of the State Special Operation Cell, Sukhminder Singh Mann, mentioned that they received intelligence indicating that Rinda, Passia, and Jaisal had mobilized their associates to conduct anti-national activities in the regions of Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Batala, and had organized a significant shipment of weapons and explosives to execute plans targeting government facilities.
Acting promptly, police teams conducted an intelligence-based operation, resulting in the arrest of Jashandeep Danny and his juvenile accomplice in the Amritsar region, where arms and explosives were recovered from them, he concluded.
