Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Aug 12 (NationPress) Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced a significant victory against the ISI-supported terrorist network in Pakistan. The Counter Intelligence (CI) unit based in Jalandhar, in collaboration with the SBS Nagar Police, has dismantled a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror group by apprehending five individuals, among them three juveniles, in Rajasthan.
This group was reportedly directed by overseas handlers Mannu Agwan, Gopi Nawanshehria, and Zeeshan Akhtar, following orders from Pakistan-based BKI operative Harwinder Singh, also known as Rinda.
The suspects include Ritik Naroliya from Didawata village in Jaipur, and Sonu Kumar from Kala Sanghian village in Kapurthala, along with three minors.
Authorities seized one 86P hand-grenade and one .30 bore pistol, alongside two cartridges and two spent shells.
DGP Yadav mentioned that the group had intentions to execute an attack at a liquor shop in SBS Nagar shortly.
Earlier, this module executed a grenade assault on the liquor store in SBS Nagar on August 7.
The DGP further noted that these operatives were preparing for similar attacks leading up to Independence Day.
The suspects were under direct guidance from foreign handler Zeeshan Akhtar and BKI leader Mannu Agwan, who collaborates closely with Rinda.
“We have successfully thwarted additional planned strikes by this terror faction,” asserted DGP Yadav, while investigations are ongoing to trace connections within the case.
Assistant Inspector General (Jalandhar) Navjot Mahal revealed that the five detainees were captured in the Tonk and Jaipur districts of Rajasthan during an intelligence-driven operation.
He noted that during an ensuing recovery operation, suspect Sonu attempted to fire at the police, prompting a defensive response that resulted in Sonu being shot and subsequently hospitalized.
