Chandigarh, March 19 (NationPress) In a significant development, the Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police, in collaboration with Haryana's Special Task Force, successfully detained two shooters linked to the murder of a property dealer in Chandigarh's Sector-9 after a short exchange of gunfire. Three advanced firearms were also seized from the suspects, according to Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Rajan, also known as Piyush Pehalwan, from Ferozepur, and Pritam Shah from Nawashahr, both hailing from Punjab.

The seized firearms include a .30 bore PX-5 pistol, a .30 caliber Chinese pistol, and a .32 caliber pistol, complete with ammunition.

Reports indicate that the victim, Charanpreet Singh alias Chinni, was fatally shot by two attackers in Sector-9 on Wednesday.

DGP Yadav reported that the suspects are believed to be crucial associates of the fugitive gangster Lucky Patial from the Bambiha gang.

He further mentioned that Rajan alias Piyush Pehalwan is also wanted in connection with the notorious murder of Yadwinder Singh, who was the driver for Jiwanjot Singh alias Jugnu.

The AGTF Punjab managed to dismantle the entire operation and apprehend the suspects in under 30 hours.

Ongoing investigations are being conducted, he added.

In a briefing, Punjab's Additional Director General of Police (AGTF), Promod Ban, explained that following the incident, the AGTF promptly initiated a specialized operation named "OPs Silent Trigger" under the guidance of AGTF Deputy Inspector General of Police Gurmit Singh Chauhan to identify and apprehend those responsible.

During this operation, the suspects fired at police units led by Punjab Superintendent of Police (AGTF) Bikramjit Singh Brar.

In the ensuing exchange of fire, both suspects sustained injuries and were swiftly transported to a hospital for medical attention, as noted by the AGTF Superintendent of Police.

Initial interrogations have also indicated that Piyush had traveled from Malaysia via Nepal to carry out the assassination on the orders of his handler based abroad.
