Punjab Police Arrest Two Associates of International Gangster Prabhdeep

Chandigarh, Jan 7 (NationPress) Two associates of the foreign-based gangster Prabhdeep Singh, known by the alias Prabh Dasuwal, were taken into custody after a short confrontation in Punjab, as reported by the police on Tuesday.
With this arrest, the Punjab Police asserts that they have resolved at least two shooting incidents that occurred in the Tarn Taran district.
The Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, revealed that those apprehended have been named Karanpreet Singh and Gurlaljit Singh.
Authorities have also confiscated a .32 bore pistol along with cartridges and spent bullet casings from the suspects, in addition to seizing their scooter, which they were using.
Reports indicate that both individuals were operating an extortion scheme under the orders of their handler Dasuwal, who is linked to the Ghanshyampuria gang.
The recent shooting incident occurred at a medical store in Gharyala village on January 1, while another shooting took place at Valtoha, where they aimed at an 'arhtiya' to demand an extortion payment of Rs 20 lakh on December 2, 2024.
DGP Yadav remarked that following these incidents, the Tarn Taran Police initiated a specialized operation and, based on technical intelligence, successfully identified the suspects involved in both occurrences.
Upon receiving a tip-off regarding the suspects roaming in Valtoha, a police team tracked them down and located them at a checkpoint in Valtoha, where both suspects opened fire at the police party. The police, in turn, returned fire in self-defense.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Tarn) Taran Abhimanyu Rana noted that Karanpreet and Gurlaljit suffered bullet wounds during the exchange of fire and were subsequently transported to the hospital.
He further indicated that Karanpreet has a criminal background and was wanted by law enforcement for various offenses. Ongoing investigations and raids aim to capture other absconding suspects linked to both cases.
